'Rat' Kings & Bonnies

A video I wacked together a few months ago when I first purchased the GoPro camera and Barracuda Kayak. Off Cronulla, we found some 'Rat'  Kingfish around the60-65cm size. Caught using fresh unweighted squid heads floated down once we located them on the sounder. We also had some fun throwing metals around at Bonito and Sambo's on the light gear, lots of fun. Nice morning on the water for a paddle!

Wanda to Merries Reef

Lets get this Blog rolling!

Took the new Barracuda for a spin in the the surf at Wanda beach. A late start so expectations of fish were low, but it was a top day and light winds, so a decent paddle out to Merries Reef was on order. Stacks of baitfish present, Yellowtail following my Squid Jigs back to the kayak after each cast.   I headed out to the end of the reef and deep water. Some big swell was hitting the outer reefs so I kept a wide berth, memories of rolling over at Jibbon Bommie a few weeks ago fresh in my mind.   An enjoyable paddle back across the bay to the surf beach, tried to catch a few waves in which resulted in the usual...me taking a swim. Enjoy:
